These macaws are found from northwestern and western Brazil down to Mato Grosso. They like a wide range of habitats, such as várzea and savanna forest and palm groves for feeding and communal nesting. They also nest in tree cavities and cliffs. Their food includes fruits and seeds from Ingá, Ficus and Cecropia species and flowers.
